Part Three,  Writing Life Matters

My Life After Kids Transitions

In the fall of 2011, I embarked on a new lifestyle that gave me the gift of time. Out of this time came the exploration of my craft which led to the birth of my blog, My Life After Kids. Prior to the launch, I called myself “the writer who doesn’t write”, so for me, this blog was a true act of bravery – calling myself a writer, sending words out into the world to be seen.

My readers know that I have used this space to explore the empty nest transition, family story and my unique lifestyle that I dubbed “My Temporary Life.” My writing goal was to bring family together, here on my blog, and I believe I achieved it.

My Favourite Writing Spot during My Temporary Life

Now, Princess and Buddy have married. They’ve started families of their own. They’ve grown and flown. The Consultant has retired. Together we are transitioning into the next stage of life I’ll call Part Three.

As I transition along into Part Three, health and wellness are top of mind. My relationships are more important than ever. I’m intrigued by creativity and this brings me back to writing.

I move into Part Three, solidly convinced that writing life matters. Journal writing has been my life sustaining practise ever since I was a teen and I wonder where I’d be without it. Writing clarifies my decisions, my goals and my “why.”

I think about the value of any bit of writing we leave behind when we leave this earth, always wishing I had more from Mom and Dad.

As My Life After Kids transitions to Writing Life Matters, I invite you to stay connected with me and to explore your own Part Three (or Two, or One).

Write about what matters to you, matters of the heart, matters that capture the best in life. Write about those wonderful lessons we can pass on to future generations; the ones that stand the test of time.

Part Three is where I get to write, reflect, and repeat to my heart’s content. I hope you’ll join me.

As a mother of two grown children, I have transitioned through the empty nest and am embracing this amazing and yet, sometimes confusing stage of life. My desire is to write my way through whatever comes my way and should my thoughts resonate, I'd love to hear from you.

Absolutely love to travel with you and your artistry with words. Part 3 is what I am trying to live, explore and document with paint. Looking forward to reading more!

I am so happy to see you writing again and so glad to be traveling this road with you! If I had to choose a name for my Stage Three, it would be gratitude and reflection; the thankfulness I experience every time I spend time with my growing family and the gratitude I have for what I have. I am happy to say I have everything I need and even some of my wants. Life is a blessing and I embrace each and every day. Being positive is the key in this negative world. See the beauty in it.
